Hi. I'm Sara!

Welcome to Mercer + Green.
I am a born and bred New Yorker, mom of two little girls who loves
all things New York and is passionate about healthy living.

Good On Everything

I have dry skin. Take a dry NYC winter, add a serving of exclusively breastfeeding for going on a year and you have a recipe for parched skin. I drink a ton of water everyday, eat water rich foods, take internal oils and still my skin skews dry.

I am constantly on the hunt for a super moisturizing body oil to use when I get out of the shower. I much prefer oils to lotions as they soak in much faster as have much, much deeper results.

I recently discovered Jao Goe Oil and am obsessed! This heavenly smelling oil is actually a combination of 28 plant, fruit and flower oils and butters. It smells faintly of Monoi (Tahitian gardenias soaked in coconut oil) but is not at all cloying. Like a subtle hint of a tropical vacation. Beyond the delightful smell this stuff is the real deal and moisturizes like nothing else. It is solid at room temperature which makes it much less messy to apply than liquid oils.  And a small amount goes really far!

As far as ingredients this stuff is super pure. I have even been using it on Portia's baby skin! It’s made with a high percentage of jojoba oil—not technically an oil, but a polyunsaturated liquid wax similar to human sebum, plus rosehip, hemp, meadowfoam, and rice bran oils, all of which are high in omega and essential fatty acids. It also contains antioxidant avocado, grapeseed, mango, and pumpkin seed butter, plus kukui nut oil to protect the skin, and chamomile and calendula calm.

I plan on packing a tube or two of Goe Oil for our upcoming spring break to use on me and the girls post swimming and beaching!
