I am a self admitted (vegan) ice cream addict. On any given day Doug and I have 3-4 pints of various vegan ice creams in our freezer. Even in the coldest of weather I love to have a small bowl of ice cream for dessert. Few indulgences make me happier. Sadly, many vegan ice creams out there are loaded with stabilizers and preservatives I don't love putting in my body. Enter Downtown Creamery. Made by plant based chef Meghan Huylo, this vegan ice cream delivery service is the stuff that dreams are made of. Handmade in small batches with whole, plant based foods Downtown Creamery offers an artisinal approach to ice cream. Their incredibly delicious blends are made from a base of coconut and cashew, sweetened with maple syrup and blended with whole, natural ingredients to create satisfying, delicious flavors.
Before my pints of bliss were delivered, Meghan asked me what ice cream flavors I gravitate towards. I told her I love combinations of salty and sweet, chocolate and mint, dark chocolate and sea salt and salted caramel. My delivery contained a pint of Peppermint Chip and a pint of Cacao Miso Crunch ( a custom flavor just for me!). Both flavors were incredible, with the Cacao Miso Crunch being my favorite. While miso in an unexpected flavor in ice cream it worked so, so well with the rich sweetness of the chocolate base.
