Art on the Go
This summer it has felt like we are constantly taking Hermione out to restaurants for meals. From lunch at clam bars to dinners in Montauk she has been to her fair share of Hamptons restaurants. With Doug only with us a few nights a week we prefer to all go out to dinner as a family instead of getting a babysitter and leaving Hermione at home. While Hermione is pretty good at restaurants once her food comes (she has quite the palate and appetite) keeping her happy and occupied while we wait can be a challenge. After all, she is two and quite wiggly and adventurous. In order to keep her attention I created a grab and go mini art kit. Filled with fun supplies she gets very excited when the kit comes out of my purse and onto the dinner table. The trick has been only giving it to her at restaurants, so it is a special treat. The box itself is this washi tape kit that I decorated with sparkly letters spelling her name. Inside are neon gel crayons, a few colored pencils, and lots and lots of stickers. I also fold a few pieces of paper from her art pad and tuck them inside so she has something to draw on!
Her art kit has been such a huge hit that even her big cousins look forward to playing with it!
